Full Itinerary

Arrival

Upon arrival at the villa, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner prepared by our privater chef-an easy, elegant beginning to the week.

A First Look At The Lake

We begin by experiencing the lake as it was meant to be seen-from the water.  A private boat excursion introduces us to Lake Como’s remarkable landscape, historic villas and the towns that line its shores.

We’ll pause in Varenna for a relaxed lunch before returning to the villa to unwind.  As evening sets in, we’ll gather for a beautifully prepared dinner by our private chef.

Belaggio and the Lake’s Heart

We travel by ferry to Bellagio, ideally positioned at the center of the lake.  With sweeping views and charming streets, we’ll wander, explore and enjoy time for shopping.

We’ll enjoy lunch from an elevated vantage point where we’ll be able to view the eastern and western shores of lake Como-truly a unique experience and setting.

To experience a quieter side of the lake, we’ll also visit a nearby historic fishing village.  Later, we’ll stroll through the lakeside gardens of Villa Melzi, where art and nature meet in a spectacular setting.

Como, the city of Silk

In Como, we explore a city shaped by centuries of craftsmanship.  Known as the “City of Silk”, Como’s textile tradition dates back to the 16th century.

A visit to the Museo Didattico della Seta offers insight into this enduring industry.  After time to enjoy the town’s  elegant shops and streets, we ascend to Brunate for a view of lake como from a higher elevation where we’ll enjoy lunch with a unique perspective.

A Day to Settle In

Time slows…today is yours.

Lounge by the infinity pool and bask in the view of the lake.  Enjoy being in the stillness of the villa and its surroundings. Our private chef will host a hands-on cooking experience-an invitation to connect more deeply with the region through its cuisine.

Beyond the lake:  Chiavenna

We journey beyond the northern edge of the lake to Chiavenna, a town that embraces the philosophy of Cittaslow-a slower, more intentional pace of life.

Here we visit the historic Palazzo Vertamate and the nearby Asquafraggia waterfall before experiencing the town itself, including the Church of San Lorenzo.

We’ll conclude with a memorable meal at an elegant spot set amidst an ancient crotto/cave where we’ll enjoy fantastic regional dishes.

The Greenway and Lenno

We’ll set out along the Greenway, following a path rooted in an ancient, Roman road that once connected Como to regions north of the Alps.

With Isola Comacina in view, we make our way to Lenno for a leisurely lakeside lunch.

In the afternoon, we visit Villa del Balbianello, set on a secluded, wooded promontory-one of the lake’s most iconic and breathtaking settings.

The order of experiences may shift to take full advantage of weather and local conditions, ensuring each moment is experienced at its best.

"Along with my friend Eileen we were lucky enough to go on Kefi Tours to Merano Italy. Incredible week long tours and excursions. Wine masters & vineyards, wool factory and the sisters who keep the business running, cathedrals, village churches, farms, livestock, horses, cooking class, parks, museums, and the gorgeous flowers! Our hotel was 5 star with a view of the Alps and the gorgeous landscape. We were very lucky to be on the maiden voyage and it was worth it. Amy and her Italian BFF Cinzia were a wealth of knowledge and professional. If you are considering Italy, Kefi Tours will take you to places you did not know existed. Always professional, knowledgeable and an awesome time! Thanks Amy!"

"Lucky me! I was on Kefi Tours inaugural trip to Merano, Italy, and what an experience it was! Amy and Cinzia planned an outstanding trip that had a variety of activities, taking in local venues and businesses as well as the beautiful area we were in. The Dolomites are not to be missed! The Hotel Mirabell was outstanding and took care of every detail with fabulous meals and a helpful, friendly staff. From beginning to end, this trip was spectacular. Many thanks to both Amy and Cinzia! Looking forward to finding out the details for the next trip with Kefi."

"I feel so fortunate to have joined Amy and Cinzia on this trip to Merano, Italy. Merano is nothing short of magical and I left feeling so giddy that I got to experience all that it had to offer. It was a truly grounding experience - it completely changed the trajectory of my life, and I couldn't be more grateful. There is nothing quite like getting to witness women, of all ages, experience such joy together."

FAQs

Find answers to common, trip-specific questions regarding logistics, the location, bookings, and what to expect on this trip.

Do I need to know anything about Visa requirements?

If you are traveling to Europe with Kefi Tours, you should be aware of the new ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) requirements. Starting in 2024, citizens of visa-exempt countries, including the U.S., must apply for ETIAS authorization before entering the Schengen Area, which includes Italy. This is not a visa but a travel authorization that can be obtained online and is valid for up to three years. For more details, visit the official ETIAS website.

Do you handle travel insurance for me?

This is not something I handle but I encourage you to look into this for yourself.

Will there be other expenses beyond the cost of the trip?

Yes, there are a few additional expenses to consider. Drinks and alcohol are not included. The cost of the spa day will be separate, allowing you to choose your own services. Room service and other in-room fees are also not covered. Shopping, souvenirs, and tips are not included either. While tips are not expected, if you choose to give one, that is entirely up to you.

What’s the best way to travel solo through Italy?

One of the best ways to travel solo—without feeling alone—is to join a small group tour like KEFI Tours. We keep our groups to just 10–12 guests, so it feels more like traveling with friends or extended family than being part of a traditional tour. You’ll enjoy the freedom of solo travel with the comfort and security of a thoughtful itinerary, expert guides, and luxury vans to take you from one experience to the next. Traveling in a small, well-matched group creates space for deeper connections, more meaningful conversations, and a whole lot more fun.

What should I bring and what can I expect to wear?

We will provide ‘timely tips’ and ‘best practices’ on our site, including what to bring and what to anticipate wearing based on the itinerary and average temperatures. This will help you pack and prepare effectively for your trip. But generally speaking expect a laid back, comfortable aesthetic!
